Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye whiskey
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 brandied cherry, for garnish
  • Ice, for stirring

Instructions

  1. Add the rye, sweet vermouth and bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
  4. Garnish with a brandied cherry and serve immediately.

Tips

  • Bourbon works in place of rye for a rounder, softer flavour.
  • A 2:1 whiskey-to-vermouth ratio is standard; use 3:1 for a drier drink.

DifficultyMedium

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz fresh espresso, freshly brewed and cooled slightly
  • 0.5 oz coffee liqueur

  • 3 coffee beans, for garnish
  • Ice, for shaking

Instructions

  1. Add the vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur and simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake hard for 15-20 seconds to build a good foam.
  3. Double-strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
